Profile

Michael Jonas is an Assistant Professor in Computer Information Systems.

He joined UNH Manchester in the fall of 2010. He has a Ph.D., in computer science from Tufts University and an M.S., in computer science from the College of William and Mary. He also has two bachelor's degrees, mathematics and computer science, also from William and Mary.

He has previously worked as a senior development engineer at Microsoft Corporation and as a staff scientist at BBN Technologies, in both cases doing research in speech technology. He was also the president and sole proprietor of Orchard Software, a small software company which made Apple Macintosh utility software, the most successful of which was CPU Doubler. His most recent work was as senior scientist at Kratylos Technologies working on mobile telephony based speech enabled internet search.

His research interests focus on Artificial Intelligence, with an emphasis on Automatic Speech Recognition.
