Orientation Leaders

orientation leaders

Our Orientation Leaders (OLs) are responsible for initially welcoming new students to our campus throughout the summer and winter months. They have a diverse understanding of the resources available and aim to assist in a student’s academic and social integration into our community. OLs guide students through our building on tours, answer FAQs from the student perspective and help students prepare for their first semester at UNH Manchester.

Kayla Bardell

Kayla Bardell is entering her sophomore year in the American Sign Language/English Interpretation program. She is a graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, MA where she first took American Sign Language and knew she wanted to become an interpreter. This is her first year as an orientation leader. She has always wanted to help people and when she heard the school was looking for orientation leaders she knew that would be the perfect fit for her. She has had previous leadership experiences at the MASS STAR leadership conference her sophomore year of high school, and was a freshman orientation leader for three years in high school. She is hoping to continue building her leadership skills during her college experience too. While holding the position as Orientation leader, she is most excited for the connections she will make with the incoming students.

Benjamin Fuller

Benjamin Fuller is a Junior in the English-Teaching program. This will be his second year as an Orientation Leader and has found the experience has challenged him to become more involved on campus and step out of his comfort as an introvert, but also one that rewarded him through meeting great people. Since joining the Orientation Leader team Benjamin has also become a member of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship club. When he is not at UNH Manchester, he works part-time as a dietary aid at the Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Goffstown, NH. Benjamin also likes to spend time with his friends going to the movies, spending time with his family, playing video games and listening to various kinds of music.

Jacob Maynard

My name is Jacob Maynard and I am a history major entering my sophomore year at UNH Manchester. I graduated from Salem High School in Salem, New Hampshire. While there, I was in the marching band for all four years. With the band I got to travel to Phoenix, Arizona and Washington D.C. At UNH I am a part of the Community of Gamers, where we get together and hang out as we play video games. When I am not at school I like to hang out with my friends and keep up on my favorite Boston sports teams.

Vanessa Russell

Vanessa Russell is a senior in the Biology program and pursuing a career in Ecology. After graduating from Laconia High School, she knew college would be her path. Almost four years after high school, Vanessa found herself in a position where college could be a reality. As a non-traditional student, she found UNH Manchester to be the perfect fit for her journey into higher education. On campus, she holds many student leadership positions as a peer tutor, student ambassador, Biology Club president, and a member of the Leadership Academy. Vanessa is excited to take on a new role on campus as an Orientation Leader (OL), welcoming new students to campus. When she’s not at school or at work, you may find her walking the trails, enjoying the wilderness.
