Herrick Bradford

The Meet Your PALs Series introduces you to UNH Manchester's Peer Assistant Leaders (PALs), who help first-year students adjust to campus life. This week's PAL is Brad Herrick '19, a psychology major and graduate of Londonderry High School.

What do you like best about being a PAL?

Meeting new people and being able to help first-year students adjust to college life.

What advice do you have for new students?

Try to get involved. It's easy to just go to class and then go home, but that can get lonely. If you get involved even just a little, it makes a big difference.

What brought you to UNH Manchester?

I wanted to stay in New Hampshire, so that and affordability brought me here. The people are what made me stay here.

Favorite UNH Manchester memory?

My favorite memory is the first freshmen orientation that I did. I met some pretty cool people that day.

What’s your favorite class and why?

My favorite class was Psychology of Consciousness. It really showed me what I want to research, and it was taught by a very good professor.

What do you hope to be doing in 10 years?

Working in a research lab, maybe teaching.

Tell us your favorite:

  • Manchester restaurant: Republic
  • New Hampshire destination: Mt. Tripyramid
  • Vacation destination: The mountains or the beach
  • Movie: Into the Wild
  • Book: Kafka on the Shore

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Japan to hike Mt. Fuji and see Rabbit Island.

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?

We’d be surprised to know that...

I try to run a mile or two every day, keeps me relaxed.

If you could try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?

Climb K2.

If you could go on a road trip with anyone (from the past or present), who would you choose and where would you go?

I would hit every national park in America with my girlfriend Tamryn.
