Graduate Student Oreva Omu Plans to Advance IT Career in Home Country of Nigeria

After earning a bachelor's degree in computer science and spending five years in the workforce in his home country of Nigeria, Oreva Omu decided he wanted to advance his career by completing his master’s degree in information technology.

“I’ve always wanted to earn my master’s, but I didn’t want to study in Nigeria,” Omu said. “I wanted to attend a university with a great reputation and study advanced technology.”

When making his final program choice, he chose the UNH Manchester program for affordability, curriculum of study and national rankings. The Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) graduate program prepares students for a professional IT or computing-related career, designed with working IT professionals in mind.

“I was looking for a focus in software and data, and the courses I’ve taken in this program really tended to that," Omu said. "The MSIT is a great program, and I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in furthering their education.”

Omu said he likes that the MSIT program combines in-class and online learning activities and uses industry-standard tools and platforms. He said he has become fond of the faculty and community here at UNH Manchester, noting that the people are cheerful and supportive.

“The class sizes here at UNH Manchester are perfect," Omu said. "The professors are accessible and highly experienced in their field.”

After graduation, Oreva hopes to continue his IT career by starting his own IT company in Nigeria.
