    URC 2018: The Hall of Research

    Students put their independent research, civic engagement activities and internship projects on display during the poster presentation session at the UNH Manchester's Undergraduate Research Conference (URC) on Wednesday. Posters and students lined the hallways, and faculty and staff stopped by to view and ask questions.     Mihaela Sabin, associate professor and coordinator of computing technology at UNH Manchester, will be honored as TechEducator of the Year at the TechWomen|TechGirls annual awards luncheon on April 5. A program of the New Hampshire High Tech Council, TechWomen|TechGirls is a forum focused on building a strong community of women enthusiastic about technology and supporting efforts for young women to explore STEM careers.     Erol Aygar moved to the United States in 2013 from Turkey, where he grew up, worked as an engineer and earned a master's degree in engineering management. He knew he wanted a career change, and computer science seemed like a natural fit for his engineering background.     Six years ago, Rola Tokatli was working as a mechanical engineer for the Ministry of Defense in Syria, just as the conflict began to take hold. After moving to New Hampshire, Tokatli returned to school at UNH Manchester, where she recently graduated with an M.S. in Information Technology. Now a business intelligence report developer for Associated Grocers of New England, Tokatli uses data to make grocery stores, food sellers, distribution centers and deliveries as efficient as possible.
