UNH Manchester now offers downtown housing for students from any college or university who are completing a local summer internship.

Located at 1000 Elm Street, UNH Downtown Commons offers spacious double rooms, laundry facilities, cable TV, internet and more. The residence hall is minutes from an array of high-profile internship sites—and steps from downtown Manchester’s vibrant restaurants, shops and nightlife.

Summer housing will be available on a first-come, first-served basis from May 18 – August 14.

Summer housing is available to current undergraduate and graduate students at any accredited university who are completing a summer internship in the Manchester area. Individuals must have proof of internship verification by the employer and be 18 years or older to qualify.

The centrally located UNH Downtown Commons offers:

  • Spacious, fully furnished double room with a shared bathroom
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Cable-ready access
  • Shared lounge and kitchen
  • On-site laundry facilities
  • Discounted young adult membership of $35 a month to the YMCA of Downtown Manchester.

Summer internship housing costs $125/week. A 4-week minimum stay is required, and prorated rates are not available. Full payment in advance is required. Confirmed housing assignments canceled at least 14 days prior to move-in will incur a $125 cancellation fee. Cancellations within 14 days of move-in will incur a $250 cancellation fee.

Are the rooms furnished? 
Yes, each double room is fully furnished with a twin XL bed, dresser, desk with chair, and closet space.

Can guests have overnight visitors?
Yes, the policy is that a guest may stay up to 2 nights in any 7-day period.

Is there parking?
Parking at UNH Downtown Commons is private – there is a garage on-site and rental is handled by the building manager not UNH.  There are also other public garages with monthly rentals available within close proximity. Parking passes in the six-story garage are available at the monthly rate of $100/month (else, $16/day) and would have to be reserved with a credit card as the card will be auto-charged at the beginning of each month.  There is also an initial $50 fee for the cost of the card itself.   Parking is first-come, first-served as this garage also allows daily public parking. Can I walk to public transportation?
Yes, UNH Downtown Commons is a designated stop on the Manchester Transit Authority’s free Green Dash shuttle, which runs throughout downtown Manchester and the millyard.

Are utilities included?
All utilities, including cable, are provided and included in the rate. 

Is the building secure?
Yes, the building external doors are locked 24/7 and the only people with access will be registered residents, hall staff, and campus personnel with an approved reason. You will be provided an access card which you may use to come and go from the hall as you please. Your individual room door is key entry and you will be issued a key at move-in.

I am 21, can I bring alcohol into my room?
Persons of legal drinking age (21+) may have one open container of alcohol at any given time in their room. Alcohol is not permitted in any of the common areas of UNH Downtown Commons.

Can I smoke inside my room?
No, smoking of any kind is not permitted in any campus building, this includes tobacco products, marijuana, e-cigarettes and vape products. Smoking must be done outside at least 20 feet from any UNH building.

Does the residence hall provide a kitchen that I may use?
Yes, the kitchen provides a sink, microwave, full refrigerator, instant pot and basic cooking supplies that may be used by community members. Kitchen users must clean up after themselves and properly dispose of/recycle all personal items.

Does my room provide a mini-fridge and/or microwave?
No, however you are welcome to bring your own mini-fridge or microwave for your room. There is a limit of one per room, so please plan accordingly with your roommate.
