Canterbury, N.H. | Belmont High School
While pursuing her business degree, Kate got real-world experience through internships at Temco Tool Inc., a precision machining company, and Breathe New Hampshire, a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating lung disease and improving the quality of life for those living with lung disease in the state. Kate also took advantage of the opportunity to study away, spending a semester in Ascoli Piceno, Italy.
Students here are not only educated academically, but with real-world insight and experience that makes them strong communicators, thoughtful collaborators and effective leaders.
A year after graduation, Kate was "bouncing around" to find her calling. Her first job out of school was with Sun Life Financial in Boston, but it wasn't long before she returned home to N.H. to work for Image 4, a brand design studio, followed by Liberty International Underwriters in Portsmouth.
From there, Kate was hired into a newly-created, part-time program director position at the nonprofit group New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility. About a year into this position, she took the then-part-time, brand new executive director position at Stay Work Play New Hampshire, which became a full-time job about a year and a half later.
Kate is president and CEO of Stay Work Play, a nonprofit focused on encouraging young people to pursue careers and make their homes in the Granite State. Kate delivered UNH Manchester's 2016 commencement address, which centered on the theme of "603 pride."
