“When I was looking at colleges, I knew I wanted both academically inclined but also community oriented,” says Taylor. “Starting as a freshman during the pandemic was honestly overwhelming, so finding a supportive environment mattered a lot to me. Visiting the UNH Manchester campus, I immediately felt connected. Everyone was so friendly and genuinely willing to help out, which made a huge difference. Plus, I really liked that the classes were small and focused on students’ careers and academics. It just felt like the kind of place where I could settle in and really grow.”

"It also made it easier to connect with students and professors to enhance my learning but make impactful memories."

Discovering Her Passion for Communications
Taylor started as a psychology major, but it didn’t feel like the right fit. With guidance from her advisor, she explored Communication Arts, and everything clicked. “It happened by accident. I couldn’t find my niche until my advisor started having me take classes in this field and I loved it.”
Specializing in Public Relations, Taylor found herself drawn to analytics, storytelling, and strategy, the skills that would become the foundation of her career. One of her most memorable experiences was her capstone project in Professor Jago’s Narrative class, where she wrote an autoethnography about finding faith after the loss of a close friend.
“That project really merged what we were learning in class with my own creative growth, giving me a chance to reflect and learn in a meaningful way,” says Taylor. “That’s how professors at UNHM are vastly different from other colleges. They really care and shape their teaching to benefit all.”
Building Connections and Career Success
Taylor’s experience at UNH Manchester was about more than academics; it was about forming meaningful connections and gaining hands-on experience. Through her growing network, she secured an internship with a fellow student’s family business, gaining practical marketing experience beyond the classroom walls. This opportunity gave her the confidence and skills to step into the professional world.
Her dedication quickly paid off. After graduation, Taylor accepted a full-time job as a Marketing Specialist at Airtho, an innovative manufacturing company based in Durham, NH. As a Marketing Specialist, Taylor translates Airtho's technical expertise into compelling stories, highlighting why these specialized environments are critical for clients. “In my role, I get to shape our brand and lead campaigns that help clients see the real impact of our solutions,” says Taylor. “It’s rewarding to be part of a team that blends innovation with quality.”
