Many changes are coming to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-2025 financial aid year due to the FAFSA Simplification Act was passed by Congress in 2020. For full information and complete changes, be sure to check studentaid.gov. Learn More
1. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid
In order to apply for financial aid at UNH Manchester, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA asks for information about you, the student, as well as your parents' financial situation if you’re considered dependent.
The FAFSA requires information from your, your parents’ and your spouse’s tax return from the last completed tax year. You must complete a new FAFSA each academic year to reapply for financial aid. It is strongly recommended that you use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to transfer your tax information directly from the IRS into the FAFSA
2. Optional: Complete the Special Circumstance Form
If you believe you have an unusual circumstance that is not reflected on the FAFSA, you may complete and submit the Special Circumstance Form to the UNH Manchester Financial Aid Office.
The U.S. Department of Education requires that documents containing personally identifiable information (PII) be transmitted securely. Therefore, we cannot accept forms or attached documents containing personally identifiable information via email. You may submit documents through our Secure Document Upload. Please be sure that all documents include the student s name and college ID number.
All information, documents, and/or materials submitted to the Student Financial Services office at UNH become the property of UNH Student Financial Services. Please keep a copy of all submitted forms for your records.
3. Accept Your Aid Award(s)
Once you have been accepted to UNH Manchester and completed the financial aid process, you will receive an email indicating that an award is ready to view on WebCat. On WebCat, you will see the types of aid that you qualify for. You may accept all, none or a portion of the rewarded aid. Please complete the Award Acceptance form to validate the acceptance of your aid.

To be considered for financial aid at UNH, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually. It is recommended that students file the FAFSA by the March 1st priority deadline in order to receive an aid offer in a timely fashion prior to the May 1st deposit date. While filing prior to March 1 is encouraged, it's best to file as early as possible. The sooner you file, the more aid options will be available to you as you consider financial aid awards at all institutions.
UNH Title IV School Code: 002589
When completing the FAFSA form it is important to indicate our Title IV school code (you should indicate UNH, Durham, N.H. as the address). This allows the federal processor to send your FAFSA information to the University of New Hampshire. The above Title IV school code is good for both the Manchester campus and the Durham campus.
Please note: Students must reapply for financial aid each academic year.
