Advising Appointments

To schedule an advising appointment, students must use our online scheduling system, myWildcatSuccess.

Before you schedule:
  • Know if the appointment is optional or required
    • If it is required, be sure to schedule with the advisor that you are required to meet with
    • If it is optional, be sure to know the difference between a professional or faculty advisor
  • Know the reason for the appointment (called the service in myWildcatSuccess)

How to Schedule Your Appointment

Watch this tutorial to learn how to schedule an appointment with an advisor.

  1. Go to myWildcatSuccess and log in
  2. From the student home page, select Schedule an Appointment
  3. Select “College of Major Specific Advising” for the question “What type of an appointment would you like to schedule?”
  4. For the service, scroll to the bottom to find UNH Manchester and then select the type of appointment that you would like to schedule. NOTE: This is the step that will determine if you will see the availability for a professional advisor from the Office of Academic Advising, a Faculty Advisor, or both.
  5. Select your preferred date from the third drop-down menu
  6. Click the blue “Find Available Time” button
  7. After pressing the “Find Available Time” button, all advisors who have availability for the appointment service that you selected will appearCAUTION:  If both professional and faculty advisors have availability for a specific service, BOTH of their availabilities will appear. Be sure to read carefully and select the correct advisor.
  8. To the left hand side of the screen, under the calendar, you can search by name for your preferred advisor or choose the department under the “Location” drop down menu
  9. If there are no times that worked for the day that you originally selected, you can change the date by clicking on a new date on the calendar to the left hand side of the screen or by using the arrow keys on either side of the date listed towards the top of the screen.
  10. Once you’ve identified the day, time, and advisor that you’d like to meet with, click on the desired time.
  11. This will bring you to a screen called “Review Appointment Details and Confirm.” You must carefully review the details to make sure that you’ve scheduled with the correct advisor and for the correct service.
  12. The Zoom link is listed on this screen and will also be sent to your UNH student email in the confirmation message
  13. If you’d like to add comments to the appointment, you can add them in the text box
  14. Press the blue schedule button at the bottom of the screen
How to determine who should you meet with:

All students are welcome to meet with Academic Advising. However, all students who have an assigned faculty advisor are strongly encouraged to meet with them during the course selection process and registration period.

NOTE: Choosing the service choice “Other Advising Reason” will show you availability for both professional and faculty advisors. You must additionally sort by the “location” drop down menu to narrow the search to your desired department. For a breakdown of academic departments, see this page.

Service Types By Advisor

If you choose any of these appointment reasons from the “service” drop down menu, you will see availability for the Office of Academic Advising only.

What’s the difference between a Professional and a Faculty Advisor?

Professional Advisors work with undeclared and associate degree students but are an excellent resource for all students. Professional Advisors:

  • Make academic plans
  • Help students with time and stress management
  • Support students in goal setting and prioritization
  • Provide study away advising
  • Create graduation plans during junior year
  • Meet with excluded/probation students and those who receive academic alerts
  • Explain the petition for variance in policy process

Faculty Advisors work with students who are declared in their specific degree program. Because faculty are experts in their field, they are a great resource for building your professional network. Faculty Advisors:

  • Guide students through the major
  • Develop and approve areas of focus within the major
  • Approve academic internships
  • Advise students on course selection once a semester
Advising Timeline:

Each semester all UNH Manchester students are required to attend a course selection advising appointment with their assigned advisor to receive their registration access code (RAC).
