Academic Support

Each student has unique academic goals. We're here to help you achieve yours.

Whether you're looking for a little guidance or ongoing support, we offer a range of academic resources designed to meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go.

Knack Tutoring

UNH partners with Knack, a Peer-to-Peer tutoring platform, to provide all undergraduate students in Durham and Manchester with access to verified UNH tutors who have successfully completed your course. All courses are covered, and where there are no peer tutors available, there’s an optional link for an on-demand professional tutor. Knack peer tutoring is free for our students!

You can sign up for Knack Tutoring at unh.joinknack.com and complete your profile. Once you finish signing up, you can look for a tutor. You will be able to meet virtually or in-person, based on your preference. For assistance, you can review help guides here.

You can apply to be a Knack tutor once you’ve completed your first semester at UNH Manchester. You can learn more here

Connors Writing Center

The Connors Writing Center offers one-on-one writing conferences to current UNH students (undergraduate and graduate). We work with writers from all disciplines on many different kinds of writing. The conferences are conducted by trained writing assistants who are UNH undergraduate and graduate students.

The CWC offers both in-person (on the Durham campus) and virtual appointments, available to any current UNH student.

Online Writing Lab (OWL)

The Online Writing Lab (OWL) assists students via asynchronous remote collaboration with qualified writing assistants.

Students in all fields of study can submit up to 20 double-spaced pages of any form of writing, including course papers, resumes, creative essays, or personal statements.  Within 3 business days, writing assistants provide feedback that can be printed or viewed on screen. The OWL is accessible through any computer that has an Internet connection and Microsoft Word.

The OWL is not an editing or manuscript preparation service. Feedback may include reference to mechanics on the submitted paper, but it will be targeted to bring attention to patterns and issues to help the writer self-correct the paper and carry forward lessons to improve future writing.

UNH Manchester Library

The UNH Manchester librarians are available to assist you with your research. Our mission is to promote academic success through personal attention and expert assistance. We’re here to help both in-person and online. Ask for research help in-person at the Library Help Desk, call us at 603-641-4173, or email us at unhm.library@unh.edu. The UNH Manchester Library also provides an after-hours chat service that connects library users to qualified reference librarians for basic research assistance. Look for the “After-Hours” chat bubble on the Library’s website.

Faculty Office Hours

Faculty office hours are designated times when your professors are available to meet with students. You can check your course syllabus for scheduled office hours or ask your instructor.

It's a chance to ask questions, clarify course material, get feedback on assignments, and build a professional relationship with your instructors. These conversations can help you succeed academically and may even lead to future opportunities like research, mentorship, or recommendation letters.

Support doesn’t stop here!

Success isn’t just about what happens in the classroom—it’s about your whole well-being. At UNH Manchester, we’re here to support you beyond academics with wellness resources like counseling and food assistance, plus essential student services including academic advising and career support. Whatever you need to thrive, we’re ready to help you navigate every part of your college experience.
