Funding Your Research

Research Presentation Grants

Over the years, dozens of UNH undergraduates have presented their research findings at conferences and professional meetings nationwide. If you are invited to present at an off-campus venue, you may apply to the Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research for a Research Presentation Grant. These grants support your travel expenses and conference registration fees (not including meals, lodging, or trip insurance).  Award amounts vary based on available funds.

Manchester Undergraduate Project Support

The Manchester Undergraduate Project Support (MUPS) fund is available to undergraduate degree students to provide modest institutional support to assist in research activities. For the purpose of this award research is defined broadly and may include scientific investigation, scholarly exploration, creative works, and community outreach. Funds can be used for legitimate expenses related to undergraduate student projects.

This fund will support expenses such as materials, supplies, software licenses, and/or other expenses required to complete undergraduate student work.

Each semester $2500 is available for undergraduate student project support through the MUPS fund. The award is competitive and the award amounts typically will not exceed $500. Any remaining funds after the initial reward cycle will be available to be awarded on a rolling basis throughout the remainder of the semester. Students may apply more than once for student research support, although students who have not previously received the award will have priority.

International Research Opportunities

We encourage research, scholarly and creative projects for undergraduate students in all UNH academic disciplines by funding research abroad through the International Research Opportunities Program (IROP). IROP grants are competitive awards supporting qualified projects in diverse settings: universities, government agencies, museums, archives, art galleries, archeological and historical sites, research libraries, laboratories and field sites. Working closely with a UNH mentor, students identify potential research sites and foreign mentors, and address issues of cross-cultural preparation.
