Your College Checklist: What to Do the Summer Before You Start at UNH Manchester
Starting college is exciting, but it’s totally normal to feel a little overwhelmed, too! Whether you’ve already chosen UNH Manchester or are still finalizing your plans, the summer before your first semester is the perfect time to prepare, get organized, and ease into the next chapter of your life. Use this checklist to stay on track and start your college journey with confidence.
1. Set Up Your UNH Accounts
Once you're officially a Wildcat, you’ll gain access to important tools like MyUNH, WebCat, and your UNH email. These platforms are how you’ll register for classes, access financial aid info, and stay in the loop with campus updates.
Haven’t activated your accounts yet? Head here to get started, or call IT at (603)862-2525 for support.
2. Connect With Your Academic Advisor
Your advisor is here to help you plan your first semester, select courses, and make sure you’re on track to meet your goals. First year students will meet their advisors at orientation, and transfer students will receive an email over the summer inviting them to make a registration appointment. Check your UNH email regularly for updates and advising invites.
3. Register for Wildcat Welcome Day
Wildcat Welcome Day is an opportunity to meet fellow students, enjoy tasty food and learn all about campus resources! Enjoy some social time with future classmates, an overview of everything UNH Manchester has to offer, and some free ice cream.
Make sure you’re signed up because spots fill up fast! Visit this page for dates and details.
4. Submit Final Transcripts & Forms
Make sure your final high school or transfer transcripts are sent to the admissions office at unhm.admissions@unh.edu. You’ll also want to make sure you’ve completed the required health or immunization forms, which you can find detailed here!
5. Explore Housing & Transportation
UNH Manchester is primarily a commuter campus, but there are lots of options for parking, transportation, and nearby housing options. Learn more about all of our housing and dining choices here.
6. Understand Campus Resources
We offer mental health counseling and peer mentoring to student clubs and leadership opportunities--UNH Manchester has your back! Now’s a great time to learn more about the people and programs that will support you throughout college. Check our Student Experience page for further details.
7. Join the Conversation
Stay connected with your future classmates and campus events by following us on social and joining our online community. The more you engage now, the more familiar things will feel when the semester starts!
