In his nearly three decades at UNH Manchester, Dr. Todd Bohan has built his students’ foundation in economics. His courses in micro and macroeconomics, banking, international finance, trade and the regulation of business prepare business graduates for success in the world.
Bohan has contributed to the expansion of the college's business program through the development of courses in his areas of expertise and by offering various hybrid courses that incorporate the benefits of both a traditional classroom setting and online learning.
Bohan brings years of industry expertise to his post as adjunct professor of economics. In addition to his teaching career, he works on a broad spectrum of energy regulatory matters in the Northeast and Midwest as part of Sprague Energy's legal department. His areas of expertise include energy, utility regulation and pricing, and he has testified before regulatory commissions on a number of regulatory and policy matters. He previously worked for Unitil on utility-related regulatory matters and electric and natural gas market operations, and at the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, the state agency that regulates all utilities.
Bohan and his wife have two daughters so when work and schoolwork are not occupying his time, he is usually doing something with his family (preferably outdoors). He is an avid follower of UNH hockey.
Bohan earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Clark University and a B.A. in Financial Economics from Saint Anselm College.
What do you like best about your job?
Instilling in my students a passion for economics given to me some three decades ago, and recognizing that most students will go on to careers in business showing them the importance economic analysis and decision making plays in a business environment. Beyond the classroom, I very much enjoy helping students take the next step in their career path whether it is landing a summer internship, getting their first job in their field or helping guide them through graduate school options.
What is your favorite UNH Manchester memory?
Being part of this university as it has transitioned over the past three decades from its humble stages on Hackett Hill, to the University Center in the Millyard, to the great facility here at the Pandora Mill. In addition, I often reflect on the development of a Regulation of Business course we conducted here with members from the UNH Business Department faculty and industry professionals with whom I have worked.

What are your hobbies?
Walking outdoors when the weather is nice (spring through fall), camping (summer), UNH football and hockey (fall and winter) and reading about polar and ocean explorations and mountaineering excursions; however, there must be human tragedy involved in order to keep my attention.
Best vacation ever?
A cruise to Bermuda in August 2016 with my family celebrating our 25th anniversary and a milestone for each daughter aboard a brand new cruise ship with any amenity you could imagine along with a few days on the nicest beaches I have ever seen.

I like (most) ‘70s and ‘80s music, I enjoy true crime documentaries, I played junior hockey (with a few players that went on to professional careers) and raced motocross briefly as a teenager.

As a child, what did you wish to become when you grew up?
A mechanic.
