UNH Manchester Launches Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering Technology
The University of New Hampshire at Manchester has launched a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology (CET), expanding its engineering technology offerings to meet the growing demand for high-tech talent in New Hampshire and beyond.
The CET program was developed in response to increasing employer demand for computer engineers in New Hampshire, particularly in manufacturing, automation, telecommunications and cybersecurity. According to state workforce data, the need for professionals skilled in hardware-software integration and digital system development continues to rise, driving demand for graduates trained in applied engineering concepts.
“New Hampshire’s tech industry is thriving, and employers need a skilled workforce to continue that momentum,” says Mike Decelle, dean of UNH Manchester. “Our computer engineering technology program provides students with the hands-on education that prepares them for high-demand, high-paying careers in the region.”
The program is designed for students who want to work at the intersection of hardware and software, solving real-world problems in fields like automation, cybersecurity and networking. Chris LeBlanc, chair of the Department of Applied Engineering and Sciences at UNH Manchester, says the CET program provides students with the skills to succeed in embedded systems, networking, digital system design, cybersecurity and more.
“With the increasing role of embedded systems, networking and digital technologies in modern industries, our CET program gives students the practical experience they need to thrive,” LeBlanc says. “By leveraging existing courses and faculty expertise, we’re able to provide a top-tier education that is both accessible and affordable for students looking to enter this high demand field.”
The program will feature a state-of-the-art computer engineering technology lab equipped with advanced FPGA development boards to give students hands-on experience in digital circuit design and embedded computing.
The CET program provides seamless pathways with the Community College System of New Hampshire for students in Computer Engineering Technology to build on their associate degrees and advance their career prospects in computer engineering technology.
