Campus Compact for New Hampshire Names 2023 Presidents’ Awards Recipients
Each year, the Campus Compact for New Hampshire (CCNH) celebrates students, staff and representatives from local colleges and nonprofits who demonstrate exceptional community service in higher education. The CCNH Presidents' Awards recognize students, faculty, staff and local organizations that actively contribute to the betterment of their campus and community. UNH Manchester’s commitment to community service is well represented among this year’s recipients: Abby Gendron, Dana Pierce and the New Hampshire Food Bank. CCNH will recognize and celebrate the contributions of these and other outstanding campus-community engagement leaders at a ceremony on April 11.
Presidents' Leadership Award
Abby Gendron '24
The Presidents’ Leadership Award is given to an individual or student group that has made community service fundamental to their college experience. This year’s recipient, Abby Gendron '24, exemplifies that mission. Through her work as a peer leader, orientation leader and member of the Campus Activity Board, Abby has made it her goal to mentor and engage with her peers. She personifies student leadership and inclusivity and is a beacon of positivity on our campus.
Presidents' Good Steward Award
Dana Pierce, events manager
The President’s Good Steward Award is given to a faculty, administration or staff member who has contributed his or her professional expertise in service to the wider community and who has significantly advanced public service on their campus. This has been true of Dana Pierce, who has been instrumental to the operation of UNH Manchester's on campus food pantry. Her dedication and commitment has led to the expansion of fresh and frozen food options and has helped ensure that each member of our campus community has access to nutritious, accessible food and personal hygiene options.
Presidents' Community Partner Award
The New Hampshire Food Bank
The Presidents’ Community Partner Award is given to a non-profit organization that has enhanced the quality of life in the community in meaningful and measurable ways and engaged in the development of sustained, reciprocal partnerships with a college or university. The New Hampshire Food Bank has provided much needed support in expanding and growing the UNH Manchester food pantry. With their help and guidance, UNH Manchester was able to receive a commercial refrigerator as part of a grant program as well as establish a weekly fresh and frozen food partnership with Hannaford Supermarket.
