Core Responsibilities
- Develop a training plan and learn to effectively use the resources of Career and Professional Success (CaPS) to assist students
- Conduct initial resume/cover letter reviews and demonstrate LinkedIn and other best practices for creating a positive online profile
- Demonstrate Handshake and other internship and job search resources as well as provide tip sheets
- Market CaPS-related events through tabling and social media
- Research, create, market and facilitate individual and small group trainings and workshops for clubs, organizations and other student-centered populations
- Represent CaPS at campus events, i.e. CaPS Drop-Ins, Employer Resume Review Days, Open Houses, Orientations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be in good academic standing: Undergraduate: 2.5 GPA, Graduate: 3.0 GPA
- Awareness of services provided by Career and Professional Success
- Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills; open to giving and receiving constructive feedback
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Motivation and enthusiasm for the Career Peer program; participates in discussion and planning, demonstrates a drive to improve themselves as well as the Career Peer program
- Dependability and effective time management; able to balance time between academics, work, and other extracurricular activities and the Career Peer program
- Knowledge of typing and basic computer knowledge (including Microsoft Office), Experience using social media (preferably in a business setting)
- Experience working in one-on-one communication situations is desired
- Prior experience with confidential materials a plus
We typically recruit Career Peers in the Spring semester for the following academic year.
