The Department of Security Studies spans the fields of homeland and global security. Our students aim to build safe and resilient communities near and far, and our programs are designed to cultivate analytical skills and practical experience through internships, capstones, and hands-on activities in and out of the classroom. Coursework is cross-disciplinary and students are encouraged to synthesize insights from a wide range of fields in order to tackle the most vexing security challenges at home and abroad, from climate change to terrorism, pandemics to cybersecurity, and everything in between. Our students are forward-thinking problem-solvers and effective communicators who pursue careers in a wide variety of professions such as intelligence analysis, corporate security, emergency management, law, homeland security, law enforcement (local, Tribal, state, Federal), as well as countless other opportunities in the private sector or with local, state or Federal government.
Programs include a BS in homeland security; an MS in cybersecurity policy and risk management (online) and two new online MS degrees in Global Conflict and Human Security, and National Security Intelligence Analysis, both are expected summer 2021; minors in corporate security, forensic accounting, global studies, history, intelligence, political science, public history, and terrorism studies.
